This call invites students to present their innovative research at ISSE 2026. We invite all undergraduate and graduate students working on or interested in the system engineering and related fields to submit an abstract for presentation at the IEEE ISSE 2026 student conference to be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on September 22 – 24, 2026.

Each abstract will go through a review process to assess quality, level of the work, relevance, and methodological vigor. The presentation will be either in-person or online.

Topics of Interest

Students working and/or interested in the system engineering areas including but not limited to system design, integration, hardware and software development, or management of a complete system are encouraged to submit an abstract.

Example of some topics are listed below:

  • Systems Engineering

  • Systems Architecture

  • Cyber Security

  • Modeling & Simulation

  • Robotics

  • Medical Applications

  • Environmental Systems

  • Sensory System

  • Transportation Systems

  • Energy Management and Sustainability

  • AI Tools for Systems Engineering

  • Systems Engineering for AI-Augmented Systems

Option 1 (In-Person Poster Track):

  • Authors submit an abstract (1-2 pages).

  • Accepted abstracts are presented in the form of posters in person at IEEE ISSE 2026.

  • At least one author per paper must register to present the poster. There will be a special registration rate of $400 for student poster authors.

  • Abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings and published in IEEE Xplore.

  • Authors should use the IEEE templates for their paper submission.

Option 2 (Virtual Student Session):

  • Authors submit an abstract (1-2 pages).

  • Accepted abstracts are presented virtually via a Zoom session at IEEE ISSE 2026

  • At least one author per paper must register to for virtual presentation. There will be a special registration rate of $25 for virtual presentation.

  • Abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings and published in IEEE Xplore.

  • Authors should use the IEEE templates for their paper submission.

  • Oral presentations will be limited to 10 minutes with 5 minutes for questions.

Upon acceptance, virtual presenters need to send a video recording of the 10-minutes presentation. This video will be used if an internet problem occurs during virtual presentations.

EDAS Submission Instructions:

  1. Create an EDAS account

    • Visit the EDAS portal and click ‘New Users’.

    • Fill in the required fields (name, affiliation, email, student status, country).

    • Check the Privacy box and click ‘Add Person’.

    • Save your EDAS credentials.

  2. Abstract submission

    • Log into EDAS and select the appropriate submission track.

    • Enter paper title, abstract, and choose a topic area.

    • Click SUBMIT.

Each presenter is required to register by August 1, 2026.

Important Dates

  • June 30, 2026 – Abstract Submission Deadline

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students from all disciplines are invited to participate.

  • At the time of the conference, presenters must be enrolled as undergraduate/graduate students.

  • Note: Students who wish to submit a full paper for publication should submit their short or long paper via the main Technical conference paper submission process.

  • Both individual and team submissions are welcome. Team submissions should note the presenter and a primary contact.

Scope, Length, Format:

  • Abstracts should be 2 pages long, and it should:

    • Identify a clear and focused central topic that will be the subject of the presentation.

    • Outline a logical structure of ideas/argument/key takeaways/outcome that the presentation will include.

    • Up to 5 keywords

    • Incorporate references to relevant research/contexts as needed.

  • Submissions must also include:

    • A descriptive title of the presentation.

    • The author and co-author(s) full name(s) and email address(es). Must include the Faculty Advisor’s name.

    • The name of the university, program, and year of study in which the presenter(s) is (are) enrolled.
